A Leeds mum is hoping strangers will step in save her family’s Christmas after a truly torrid year.
Both Tanya Evetts and her partner lost their jobs in March and have unable to find any other employment during the coronavirus pandemic.
Tanya was previously on a zero-hour contract before coronavirus, but usually had plenty of work. After the pandemic struck, she has struggled to find work at her current employer and attempts to get another job have proved unsuccessful so far.
To make matters worse, Tanya’s partner is self-employed and also struggling for work.
Tanya said: “Please, help me save Christmas for my family.
“Every £1 donated will help me at least get a Christmas dinner and a few board games for my children.
“So long story short, I am usually pretty organised, I always start early. But due to Covid, I have been out of work since March, with my contract being zero-hour and my partner been self-employed.
“We have nothing.
“I just want to give my kids a little bit of hope this Christmas. Everything is for my kids.”
Speaking to LeedsLive, Tanya added: “Christmas dinner is my main concern, with there being six children to feed. I’d just like to get a food shop for them and maybe a few board games for presents.
“Our Universal Credit barely covers our bills.
“I really don’t know if I’ll be able to give my kids the Christmas that they deserve.”
Tanya has set up a GoFundMe page, so that she can provide for her family.
She said: “I know people don’t like donating money so I’ll leave a Christmas link to my Amazon.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has donated – it means a lot”.
